Was nominated mail petty officer and 6th squad leader in boot camp, schooled at Great Lakes Naval Training Center in fluid systems, hydroelectric power and other areas related to gunner's mate duties. Was assigned to gaurd dry dock tug in Subic Bay, Phillipines.

Participated in construction of displays for trade shows. Woked on standard woodworking machines such as table saw, router, drill press, etc. Built panels, cabinets, light boxes and crates. Was union member for five years.
